April 2013

A new media performance that uses projections based on live motion tracking to blur the boundaries between a performer’s body and a backdrop. Both entities act as one single screen. Trails of dynamically-coloured light follow the performer’s improvised movements, and the negative space between body and backdrop—the performer’s shadow—takes on a life of its own.

Created for The Interactive Stage, an interdisciplinary arts course offered at the York University Faculty of Fine Arts, jointly run by Dance, Digital Media, and Theatre. Performed in Norman Felix Gallery, as part of the Transcoding exhibition, and featured in the 2013 HASTAC conference.
